Shake or crinkle one of the cars to create sounds from different directions. Observe if your child’s gaze follows the sounds.
Some of the cars have squeakers, rattles, or crinkle paper. Encourage children to shake or press the cars to make sounds.
The cars are soft and great for throwing. Encourage children to throw the cars to train their gross motor skills.
Encourage children to push the cars along the roads of the playmat.

Using the cars, play catch with your child.
Encourage your child to match the worker with its workplace by placing the cars next to the buildings where they work. For example, the school bus should be placed next to the school, and the fire engine next to the fire station.
Using the cars and playmat, allow children to make up stories about the characters, themselves and the community.
The playmat can be folded in half, then held together with velcro to form a bag. Children can keep their cars in the bag. They can also build up a habit of cleaning up after themselves.
